About St Andrew’s Episcopal Church

Welcome to St Andrew’s Episcopal Church, a vibrant spiritual community located in the heart of Ohio City, Cleveland. We are committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for everyone looking to explore and deepen their faith. Our church is deeply rooted in the teachings of the Episcopal tradition and strives to live out our beliefs through action, worship, and service.

Our Faith and Beliefs

At St Andrew’s Episcopal Church, our beliefs serve as the foundation for our community and guide us in our pursuit of spiritual growth and understanding. We believe in the power of love, compassion, and inclusivity, and we strive to reflect these values in all aspects of our communal life.

The Episcopal Tradition

As Episcopalians, we are a part of the global Anglican Communion, tracing our heritage back to the Church of England. We find strength and inspiration in the liturgical traditions that have been passed down through generations, while also embracing a spirit of thoughtful inquiry and openness to new ideas.

The Holy Scriptures

The Holy Scriptures hold a central place in our faith and worship. We believe that the Bible is God's word, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and offers guidance and wisdom for our lives. We approach the scriptures with reverence and engage in ongoing study and interpretation to uncover their deeper meanings and relevance in our modern world.

The Holy Trinity

We affirm the Holy Trinity – God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. We believe in the divine nature of Jesus, who through his life, death, and resurrection, offers us salvation and the hope of eternal life. The Holy Spirit guides and empowers us in our daily lives, sustaining us in our journey of faith.

Sacraments and Worship

The sacraments are essential in our worship and spiritual practice. We celebrate the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Eucharist, also known as Communion or the Lord's Supper. These sacraments provide us with visible signs of God's grace and presence in our lives, as well as opportunities for communal worship and unity.

Embracing Diversity and Inclusion

At St Andrew’s Episcopal Church, we are committed to creating a community that celebrates diversity and embraces all individuals, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or background. We believe that every person is a beloved child of God and deserves to be treated with love, respect, and dignity. We actively work to dismantle barriers and promote justice, equality, and inclusion in all aspects of our church life and outreach.

Serving Our Community

As followers of Christ, we are called to serve others and work towards the betterment of our community. We engage in various outreach programs, partnering with local organizations to address the needs of the most vulnerable and marginalized. Through acts of compassion, kindness, and social justice advocacy, we strive to be a force for positive change.
